One shoot to rule them all—and in the darkness bind them. Filming on the final installment of The Hobbit trilogy wrapped last Friday and somehow, during a whirlwind 20-hour workday, Peter Jackson managed to find the time to blog about the experience to his ever-devoted fans. "Ever since starting these blogs, there's been something I thought I'd like to try one day (as well as answering the other 19 questions I owe you!)—blogging throughout a shoot day in real time. Try to give you all a feeling for what we deal with on an average day," the filmmaker wrote on the movie's Facebook page along with posting photos to commemorate the occasion. NEWS: The Desolation of Smaug poster is out The Hobbit, Behind the Scenes The Hobbit/Facebook Waking at 6:30 a.m. and after being greeted upon leaving his home by his cat, Mr. Smudge, Jackson arrived at his Wellington studios two hours later. There, he and his crew set about finishing up shooting some complicated fight scenes featuring his band of dwarves for There and Back Again, the third and final chapter in the film series. Only instead of the normal 11-hour workday, Friday being the final day, Jackson hinted they might run late. "Whenever we work a long day, I joke with the crew that I'm just softening them up for when Jim Cameron shows up in Wellington to shoot Avatar 2 and 3. Well ... It's not really a joke," quipped the Oscar winner. Jackson then took fanboys through a typically busy day on The Hobbit set. Jackson also revealed the production was a bit behind schedule, forced to complete shots leftover from Thursday before they could work on what was scheduled, as well as shuttle between soundstages. But as Tolkienites can attest, he's got a knack for making up for lost time. Not only did the Kiwi auteur supervise a slew of shots, but during breaks in between, he conducted a spotting session with composer Howard Shore, giving input regarding edited footage the latter was scoring from New York. Jackson also confessed to being extremely excited about the musical score for the second film, The Desolation of Smaug, mostly because Shore can write entirely new sections without having to revisit parts of the score for The Lord of the Rings. Those include sequences involving Beorn, Mirkwood, the Woodland Realm, Laketown, Bard and Smaug, he said. Production finally wrapped at around 10:30 p.m. and Jackson was home by 1 a.m. where a special surprise awaited him. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band continue to pull out surprises as they are in the home stretch of their European tour. On Thursday the venue was Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, Ireland and Bruce and the band played a 30-song, three-hour-and-10-minute show featuring three tour premieres. The first premiere was a cover of "Wild Thing" made famous by The Troggs in 1966. Bruce played it twice in 2009 on the Working on a Dream tour. "Bruce said when 'Wild Thing' came out he thought 'it was the greatest song ever,' " said my friend Lauren who was at the show. A song many anxiously awaited for years (and finally played in 2009) was brought out yesterday for the first time of the Wrecking Ball tour: "The Price You Pay." Not the best of videos, but the sound is great. Here's "The Price You Pay" from the show: The third tour premiere was "Real World" from 1992's "Human Touch" album. It was performed twice on Thursday, both solo by Bruce on the piano, as part of the pre-show and then in the regular set. "Real World" was performed many times on Bruce's solo Devils & Dust tour in 2005 but this is the first time it's been played at a band show (albeit the "other" band) since 1993. According to Jeremy3162 on the Springsteen fan website BTX, Bruce has now played 210 different songs on the Wrecking Ball tour. That count does not include pre-shows or rehearsal shows. "This Little Light of Mine" was again the show opener, just like at Tuesday's show in Limerick, Ireland. And it was played again later in the set. Other highlights were "Frankie," "Sherry Darling" and "Adam Raised a Cain." There was a pre-show again. The early arrivals in Cork were treated to "I'll Work For Your Love" "Girls in Their Summer Clothes" solo acoustic on the guitar by Bruce and then "Real Word" solo on the piano. "It was one of the better shows," said my friend Peter from New Jersey who was there. "After a slow start Bruce turned it up with 'Adam Raised a Cain' and after that, it was no stopping him." La Toya Jackson is looking out for her niece. News. Paris Jackson, 15, was hospitalized earlier today following an overdose of pills that sources have characterized as a suicide attempt. "I have spoken to the family and I have heard she is doing OK, she is resting," a friend of Paris' exclusively tells us. An attorney for her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, had also said that the teen was "physically fine" and getting the "appropriate medical attention" following Wednesday's scare.
