La Toya Jackson is looking out for her niece. "We are grateful and appreciate the overwhelming concern for Paris from both the public and the media, but request privacy at this time while our family handles these issues together," Michael Jackson's older sister said in a statement exclusively obtained by E! News. Paris Jackson, 15, was hospitalized earlier today following an overdose of pills that sources have characterized as a suicide attempt. "I have spoken to the family and I have heard she is doing OK, she is resting," a friend of Paris' exclusively tells us. An attorney for her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, had also said that the teen was "physically fine" and getting the "appropriate medical attention" following Wednesday's scare. VIDEO: La Toya mock-auditions for American Idol with Chelsea Handler In March, La Toya slammed a report that she was trying to shop a reality show featuring Paris and her brothers, Prince Michael and Blanket. "As a loving Aunt, when the children ask for help or advice she supports them 100 percent, and will continue to do so," her rep told E! at the time. Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys has "been in pre-production for a long time because there are a lot of special effects in it," the source says. Paris "has been taking acting lessons for the last year and a half and wants to be an actress. She is a very talented young lady. The film is scheduled to shoot this summer while Paris is on her break from school." READ: Everything we know about Paris Jackson's alleged suicide attempt Meanwhile, Paris' friend tells E! that the teen "seemed totally fine" that last time they spoke. "I am in total shock," the insider says. "She was her normal opinionated self. She's 15 going on 30, she has a lot of energy and so I am very sad. I didn't see this coming." "My own personal opinion," Paris' pal continues, "is that Paris has still not gotten over her father's death. She never really had time to mourn because there was so much change that came with his death, and that's something we are all very sad about." "The recent trial has not helped," the source added. "It's been a big stress on her." Katherine Jackson's wrongful death lawsuit against concert promoter AEG Live, with whom Michael was rehearsing for a 50-show engagement in London, has dredged up a number of graphic details regarding the pop icon's condition in the days before his sudden death at 50 in 2009. In court yesterday, AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips called the suit "a baseless extortion."

Paris Jackson: Superstar's daughter builds own identity in spotlight

Paris Jackson: Superstar's daughter builds own identity in spotlight
(CNN) -- Like her father had done countless times before, Paris Jackson stepped to the microphone. What followed at the star-studded public memorial for Michael Jackson was a heartbreaking tribute from a young girl millions of fans barely knew. "Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine," the 11-year-old said through tears, as relatives patted and comforted her. "And I just want to say, that I love him so much." The brief appearance on July 7, 2009, at Los Angeles' Staples Center, was a surprise, given Paris, like her two brothers, had been shielded by their superstar father for most of their lives. Jackson family attorney: Paris is OK Only two weeks before, according to testimony in the 2011 trial of Michael Jackson's physician, Paris saw her dying father lying on a bed with his eyes and mouth open. She screamed out "Daddy!" That trauma of losing a father was recalled Wednesday after Paris Jackson was rushed to a hospital after cutting one of her wrists, sources close to the family told CNN. Paris called a suicide counseling hot line, which led to a counselor calling 911 to the Jackson home in Calabasas, California, the sources said. Other Jackson sources stopped short of calling the incident a suicide attempt, although one suggested it might be "a cry for help." "Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are," attorney Perry Sanders said. "It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you." While either behind a mask as a small child or in the public eye as a teen, the aspiring actress has endured many ups and downs in her relatively few years. Since their father's death, Prince, Paris and Blanket's lives have become more public. In TV interviews, Paris has spoken about a devoted father who sometimes let his kids go to Chuck E. Cheese. A father who mildly disciplined them if they did something bad. Michael Jackson wanted his children to grow up without fanfare and overwhelming scrutiny. He talked to his children about his youth while starring in the Jackson 5. "He would always be stuck in the studio singing while other kids were out playing," Paris told Oprah Winfrey in June 2012. The daughter talked about why the siblings wore masks when away from home. "I didn't get why I was wearing a mask. But I understand it now -- why my dad would want our face to be covered," she said. "(So) when we went out without him we would not be recognized. We would have a normal childhood." Paris said she has dealt with issues familiar to some adolescents. People tried to bully her, Paris told Oprah. "A lot of people don't like me," she said. Paris wants to make her own mark as an actress. She signed to star in the upcoming film, "Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys," based on children's fantasy novels. "You can be like a totally different person on camera and it's fun," Paris told Winfrey. "You can take on another character and it's awesome." The siblings are part of a family that has seen its share of public disputes. Their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, shares guardianship with TJ Jackson, the son of Tito Jackson, under an agreement forged last year after the Jackson matriarch was away for 10 days. Katherine Jackson was eventually found to be at an Arizona spa with several of her sons and daughters. A missing person report triggered a media storm, with Paris tweeting for people to help find her grandmother or at least to get Jackson to call her grandchildren. At the time, CNN obtained surveillance video that appeared to show Paris' superstar aunt, Janet Jackson, attempting to take the then 14-year-old's cell phone from her. Authorities reportedly broke up a scuffle at the Jackson family home after that event. Who\'s who in Jackson trial Who's who in Jackson trial Paris and Prince, 16, are listed as potential witnesses in an ongoing trial. Members of the Jackson family contend AEG Live is liable in Michael Jackson's 2009 fatal drug overdose. The siblings were questioned separately by AEG attorneys before the wrongful death trial began in April. "A grilling of a child regarding the loss of her father is going to create a lot of pressure," Jackson trial lawyer Kevin Boyle said Wednesday. "Paris Jackson was asked intimate details about her father and her father's death; it was a very intense situation." AEG Live lawyer Marvin Putnam denied his team was tough on Paris Jackson in her deposition. Paris questioned about dad's death in lawsuit In between the headlines, Paris continues in school, formulating her own dreams. She's a cheerleader for her high school's basketball team. The teen was recently reunited with her mother, Debbie Rowe, who bowed out of her life when she was an infant. Paris has been spending time with Rowe at her horse farm. Rowe is the biological mother of Prince and Paris. The couple divorced in 1999, with Rowe giving Jackson full custody while she got an $8.5 million settlement, according to court documents. Jackson later agreed to additional support. Rowe said in a 2003 interview, later obtained by ABC News, that she became close to Jackson in 1996 when she consoled him after his brief marriage to Lisa Marie Presley ended. Paris' first solo TV interview was in December 2011, with Ellen DeGeneres. She told the host that as a young girl she did not realize Michael Jackson was so famous. DeGeneres asked Paris whether she would be compared to her father if she performed music. "Well, I understand that I will be put on a certain level compared to him, and I might not meet everybody's standards," Paris replied. "But, I mean, it's me," she said to applause.

Bieber booed at Billboards

Bieber booed at Billboards
SO, TATTLE was watching the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night when an important cultural shift took place. Justin Bieber got booed. And he didn't take it well. The Biebs, you see, fashions himself an artist. "I'm 19 years old," an obviously stunned Bieber said accepting the first-ever Milestone Award. "This is not a gimmick. I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of. I want to thank my manager, Scooter Braun. I want to thank my family at home. I want to thank my mother, my father. I want to thank Jesus Christ." 1) It's not up to you to declare yourself an artist. 2) If you have to tell people you "should" be taken seriously, you probably shouldn't be taken seriously. 3) Wearing MC Hammer pants and singing with your voice auto-tuned beyond human recognition is most definitely a gimmick. There was so much synth-aided singing and lip-synching during the Billboard show that it even embarrassed Kid Rock, who broke the cardinal rule of these made-for-TV events and said something critical. Presenting the award for Top Rap Song, Rock exhorted the crowd, "Let's give it up for people lip-synching under prerecorded music." Yikes! But let's be real, music industry, the overwhelming fakeness was embarrassing and most of the music was almost instantly forgettable. And when will.i.am got the Biebs to join him for another egomaniacal paean to himself, "That Power," Tattle began to think back to the songs of our grandparents' generation and imagine a composer like Cole Porter getting on stage and robotically singing: "My name is Porter/Drink Scotch not water/So hide your daughter/Or she'll be out/And about/Doing all that I taught her. I'm the top." Now you see him Jesse Eisenberg stopped in Philadelphia last Friday to promote his upcoming magic movie, "Now You See Me," and hopped out of a limo in front of the Ritz-Carlton. On the sidewalk were a group of Reds fans holding baseballs and looking for autographs. They saw Eisenberg, star of "Zombieland," and asked him to sign. The actor was a bit baffled to see the baseballs, but happy to oblige. "It's kind of a childhood fantasy to sign a baseball for somebody. I never thought it would happen; now it has." A Marky event Hey, ho! Let's go! Marky Ramone - yes, that Marky Ramone - has just been added to an already star-studded lineup at this year's Wizard Philly, May 30-June 2, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It is the first time the legendary rocker will be appearing at Wizard Philly. Wizard has also just announced that Gina Torres ("Firefly") will be gracing the con. But perhaps the biggest announcement for fanboys is that Marvel Comics is coming back to Philly after too long an absence! "We are excited to bring an industry leader like Marvel to Wizard World shows," John Macaluso told Comics Guy Jerome Maida. "Many of our fans have a close connection with the movies, comics and characters Marvel produces, and these two panels and review sessions are excellent addition to our lineup." The panels are entitled: "MARVEL: Breaking Into Comics the Marvel Way," set for Friday at 5 p.m. and "MARVEL: From NOW! to Infinity," to take place Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. Additionally, Marvel will be accepting portfolios on Friday and Saturday, and talent scout C.B. Cebulski and others will conduct reviews on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 110. TATTBITS * Seth MacFarlane is too busy to host the Oscars in 2014. The multitalented comedian says on Twitter that he "tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep." The creator of "Family Guy" suggested Oscar producers tap the eccentric actor Joaquin Phoenix to host the show. * Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have reportedly broken up again. Please save this item to re-read when necessary. * According to London's Daily Star, the lads of One Direction have nicknamed Harry Styles "Mrs. Mop." Coincidentally, Tattle has been nicknamed "Mr. Mope." Harry is reportedly a neat freak and has become Felix Unger to the group's Oscar Madison, to make sure their tour bus stays tidy. "He went to a supermarket and bought a ton of cleaning products, as he didn't think the bus was clean enough," said an unnamed source. "He watches to make sure no one drops food anywhere and asked people to leave their shoes at the door and wear slippers." Maybe that's the reason for his split with Taylor Swift. - Daily News wire services and BANGShowbiz.com contributed to this report.
